This service is marketed as an elevated primary care experience, but my visit was among the worst I’ve had. Several issues stood out: 1. No attempt to obtain prior medical records. I completed all pre-visit paperwork, including previous PCP details and a release of medical information. Despite this, One Medical never retrieved my records. In past experiences, my prior labs and health history were always obtained and reviewed in advance of my visit. 2. A checkbox-style appointment. The doctor seemed disengaged. Despite my being underweight for my height, vegetarian, regularly active (4–6 times/week), with low BP/HR and no family history of diabetes, she repeatedly emphasized the need to screen for prediabetes. When the labs returned normal, she wrote, “Good news is there is no sign you are prediabetic!”—as if the result was surprising. 3. Surprise billing and zero support. Although my labs were drawn in the One Medical office, I received a $500+ bill from LabCorp. When I called to ask why wellness labs weren’t covered, One Medical told me to deal with LabCorp directly. 4. Lack of engagement with personal health concerns. I shared that two close family members had recently been diagnosed with multiple myeloma and asked if there were labs that could help with early detection. The doctor seemed unfamiliar with the condition or how to screen for it and instead of looking into it, she defaulted to telling me she’d order a CBC (which is part of standard wellness labs and is not specific to screening for MM). Overall, the visit felt impersonal, disorganized, and not at all aligned with what One Medical claims to offer. Save yourself the time, stress, and unexpected bills by looking elsewhere for quality primary care.

Had an amazing initial visit with Grace Vettraino she was super friendly and compassionate about my concerns and I felt listened to and understood! This will definitely my new primary provider!

Dr. Romero was amazing at my first visit! She was friendly, engaging, and answered any and all questions that I thought of. I was also really impressed with the process of getting started with One Medical. As somebody who has managed medical practices for five years, I have seen the good and the bad, and they really have such a seamless process in place! I feel very lucky to be able to have them on my medical team moving forward!
