I instructed Hunters to assist with the sale of my London flat and was very happy indeed with the service they provided. The team that assisted me were James Vernor-Miles and Scott Battram and they were both incredibly knowledgeable, helpful and efficient, making for a very smooth overall process and a successful completion. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for lawyers to represent them on a property sale.

I recently dealt with Richard K from Hunters’ family department to discuss my case. Initially, he showed interest in taking it on. I understand that lawyers sometimes cannot take certain cases due to their capacity, but Richard assured me he had the capacity to handle mine. After passing their ID checks, I waited a couple of weeks for further communication. When I called him on Monday, he apologised for his unavailability and promised to send the client engagement letter that day. I politely responded that receiving it by some of the same week would be fine, acknowledging his busy schedule. His response was he would send on Monday, so I keep an eye on on my email. However, he did not send it at all anything. On Thursday evening, I emailed him to request confirmation by the end of Friday regarding whether he would take the case, or if I should instruct another lawyer. With apparent disregard, he replied late on Friday, stating, “Sorry, I can’t respond by Friday. And you can instruct another lawyer if you like.” In response, I inquired again about his capacity to handle my case, but it’s been another week without a reply. The reason I’m leaving this feedback is that I would have understood and respected a straightforward response at the beginning, or even a polite refusal later, due to capacity issues. However, that was not the case. He promised to take on the case but then ignored me, seemingly when he realised it wouldn’t be particularly lucrative, as I don’t come from an ultra-wealthy family. This lack of response, I found very disrespectful. Hunters Law Firm promotes its Pro Bono work and legal aid, but in my case, where I was a private-paying client, it seems my case wasn’t considered high net worth enough. When it came to demonstrating basic human decency, sadly, one of their legal representatives in the family department failed. We trust these legal representatives during the hard times of our lives, and while I understand the importance of financial considerations I.e. everyone has to earn Money. But ignoring clients and not honouring commitments is both unprofessional and disrespectful I found!

I have interacted with Jay Patel and some of his family law colleagues over the years and also seen first hand with their other clients how professional Hunters are and the superb results they achieve in family law. They are not the cheapest but you pay fairly for what you get. I found them more professional, knowledgeable, transparent on costs and to the point compared to three of their major competitors I engaged with previously (sadly due to a litigant ex). I would have given them 5 stars had they been my divorce lawyers and perhaps if i had used them initially I would have achieved a far better and tidier outcome. They dealt with my other family matter exceptionally well though. Other people I know who have used them hold them in extremely high regard.
