TLDR: avoid at all costs this unprofessional and dishonest company. This company started my solar+roofing project without a realizable plan, didn’t follow their plan and after various attempts to sell me on very expensive panel relocation abandoned the project. I had to spend an enormous amount of time dealing with issues they caused, pay a lot of extra to fix their problems and finish the project with another company. The complete story is over a year long with a lot of egregious stuff but here are the main points. I hired them back in 2023 to replace my flat roof and install solar + battery. I went with them because few companies do these all together at a competitive price. In reality Ditson just subcontracted the business to two other companies (Sonny roofing and Golden Gate solar, neither of which is well-rated). After getting started on a roof they told me that they need $5K+ extra because the roof does not have the plywood, immediately making the total price higher than competition (I had no choice but to accept). The roof was installed poorly. It leaked twice that year causing damage to the ceiling these guys never repaired. Then the solar panels were installed but with poor placement due to shade and electrical work done as if there is no battery to be added. At this point they realized that their plan for adding the battery cannot be realized due to insufficient space in the electrical panel. Ditson then tried to sell me on either an extra subpanel or panel relocation options which were all much worse than the original plan and required a lot more money. I even offered Ditson the option of going back to a panel only system without a battery (for which I had a quote from them). But Ditson just declined and basically abandoned my project despite receiving about 80% of the money. With some effort and threatening legal action I got the other owner (Hippolito) to properly seal the panel mounts and partially fix their racks). After that I consulted a couple of companies about completing the work. All of them were amazed at how bad and unprofessional the work was. If you are curious let me know and I’ll send you an official report about it. I had to pay over $4k just to fix the install of the panels. There was a fairly easy solution to my system which required a Tesla battery instead of the Franklin in the original plan. But in the end it was such a relief working again with some real professionals and not a flaky and dishonest Ditson. Really hoping no one else will have to deal with this company.

Highly recommend Ditson and his team. I contracted with them to remove my existing solar panels and re-install them after installation of a new roof. Ditson was always super responsive via text and his prices were more than fair. He was very flexible with last minute scheduling delays due to other work backing up. His team came in, did the work quickly and efficiently and returned on a weekend to finish the job after the roofing work was completed. Really appreciated Ditson and his team. Thanks!
