A recruiter reached out to me about a job recently that really seemed like a fantastic fit. So he scheduled me for an interview with his account manager later the same day. I was excited about it and made sure to clear my schedule for the interview, but the time came and went with no phone call. After waiting a bit, I emailed the recruiter to find out what happened – no response. After a while I texted the recruiter, and he texted “I’ll call back.” No apology for me being stood up, no questions about what happened, no nothing. After an hour with no call back, I texted him again – no response. I emailed him an hour after that – still no response. The next day at mid-morning I finally got an email back with a weak explanation that the account manger was “really busy” and would get back with me (which I’ve learned is recruiter-speak for “stop bothering us”). Four hours of silence later, I emailed back. Nothing.
To be reached out by to by IG and have a time scheduled to meet, then be a no-show with virtually no further communication is extremely unprofessional, both on the part of the recruiters and account managers. My advice is that if you’re contacted by IG, don’t get your hopes up until/unless you actually sign a contract. They clearly don’t know the first thing about integrity or credibility in the business world.
