It’s been a long time since I had my psych-Ed assessment at Erica Bakers office, with their “so advertised” adult autism expert. Though that practitioner was nice and empathetic (ish) to my situation as an adult woman looking for a diagnosis, I spent a lot of money to get a psych-ed, not an autistic assessment, to be told they just weren’t capable of giving me a diagnosis. After years of searching for a diagnosis, I found the support I needed and I have finally received my autism diagnosis by a therapist that my doctor endorses. I’m not writing this to be malicious, and am trying to give a neutral rating because I doubt they are a bad place for everyone. But knowing there are few options for adult autism diagnosis, if any, in Halifax, I don’t want others in my same desperate situation forking out money they can’t afford to find out later this office is not capable of diagnosing, and has very misguided understanding of, autism presentation in adult women with high intelligence.
