Be careful when booking this place. If you book it, you’d better be 100% sure you’ll go through with it — because once you pay, there is no getting your money back, even if you cancel well in advance. In our case, we had arranged to book part of the space on a day that was already booked by another production — meaning our booking was simply an add-on that generated extra income for them. Canceling our portion did not affect their main income for that day at all, yet they still refused to refund the booking fee when we canceled nearly two weeks ahead.
Also worth noting: we previously booked their other location, Film Studio LA, and they demanded full payment before allowing us to come in for a tech scout. That policy felt very much like “let’s squeeze as much money as we can upfront.”
If you are a larger union production, maybe this is manageable. But for indie or low-budget shoots, there are many standing sets and stages in LA that are far more flexible and easier to work with. Just sharing our experience so others can plan accordingly.
