I had an awful experience with Jovie Babysitting Service coordinated through Bright Horizons Backup Care. The sitter, Katrina, confirmed with us directly at 8:30 PM the night before but canceled later that night for an early morning start, leaving us completely stranded without childcare.
The worst part? No one from Jovie contacted us directly to notify us of this late change. Instead, they left the responsibility to Bright Horizons, which resulted in a complete communication failure. When I called Jovie Garden City to address the issue, the contact person refused to take accountability, claiming that since we were Bright Horizons clients, it wasn’t their responsibility. To make matters worse, they suggested that if other agencies are doing better, we should simply request them in the future.
For a service meant to provide reliable childcare, this experience demonstrated neither professionalism nor courtesy. In situations involving late cancellations, it is basic customer service to ensure families are informed directly, especially after confirming plans the night before. Jovie’s lack of communication, refusal to acknowledge their role, and dismissive attitude were completely unacceptable. I cannot recommend their services and strongly advise others to avoid trusting them with your childcare needs.
