If you care about disabled people or people of marginalized genders or aroace identities, do NOT go here!! I attended the Billy de Frank’s trans masc discussion groups and experienced extreme ableism. On Google maps it says that this property is accessible and it is very much not. There is a back entrance where the elevator is, and it is locked whereas the front entrance is not. I had to wait at least 10 minutes to be let into this back entrance to use the elevator and ended up being late to the group. I had discussed with the leader of the group who had confirmed that this would be an accessible space, but it was obvious that before this day, the elevator space was being used as storage. The center did not encourage masks and most people were not wearing them. The space was not scent free and I got a migraine part way through the group because of how strong everything smelled. Upon arriving in the space, no one offered me their chair, including the leader of the group (who wasn’t masking of course). This is just basic bus etiquette! I am extremely disappointed and did not feel welcome here whatsoever and definitely will never be going back! I ended up emailing the leader of the group and he emailed me a pretty disgusting response back, saying that he had met with the board president who also agreed with his ableism and erasure. I attached screenshots.

Large facility. Great location. Plenty of parking. Nice for meeting location. Nice library upstairs. Free computer use. Bathrooms locked – bummer. Seems to have other services available. Would love to see more community involvement to make the Center thrive.
