I, like many others who have shared their experiences here, accepted a contractor position with Apex Systems for NextEra Energy. After accepting the role, signing the contract, passing the background and drug screen, and even investing in office attire (since I had always worked remotely), I was informed on Friday at 5:30 PM that my Monday start date had been postponed.
To make matters worse, I was then told the day before my second start date (eight days later) that I would not be starting at all. Two days later, I received a call stating that the role I had signed a contract for had not been funded. I had turned down other offers and wasted five weeks of my time, only to be left without a job at the last minute.
This lack of communication, transparency, and consideration for the impact on people’s lives is deeply frustrating. It’s clear that Apex Systems does not take accountability for the consequences of their actions, and they showed no remorse or empathy for how this situation affected me or my family.
Having worked with other agencies in the past, I can confidently say that Apex’s lack of professionalism in handling these situations is unacceptable. They need to be held accountable for the way they treat candidates and their time.
