Unfortunately this location is commonly out of items. I went in this past Sunday, 05/11/2025 to buy a padlock and they did not have one single padlock for sale. This is a very common item but this has been going on for the two years that I have lived here. I often have to drive to the hardware store in Mojave or Home Depot in Tehachapi to buy the items I need. It would be nice to have this location adequately stocked to serve the citizens of California City eliminating the need to drive outside of the city.

The new owner is trying. I’ve been around a long time. I tell them what they need to stock. They don’t stalk half the stuff you need, but it is a quick stopping place to see if you can get whatever. But they need to do some heavy inventory. They need somebody that knows what sells what they need. What’s in high commodity during the summer? I told them to buy 50 cases of chlorine. They bought 10 cases, they sold them in 1 day. That’s just one stupid example. They really need a parts inventory specialist like me

This store is a major asset to the community. I have ties to the town that go back more than 50 years and the ace hardware is the best. You no longer have to make 40 plus mile round trips to get things. The staff is friendly and helpful in a way you do not get in big box stores.
