While I’m sure that Aston Carter provides results for their jobseeking clients, I’d sum up my experience as a jobseeker like this:
Lackluster communication, zero interviews, and zero results.
I am an HR professional with about 15 years of experience, much of that time in leadership. In September 2024 I had a preliminary early-morning phone screening with an AC recruiter that seemed to go pretty well. I was asked to provide professional references, which I did, and then a Zoom call was set up for later in the day. This was to have a more detailed conversation about the position they were hiring for.
And here is where it gets weird. Not even two hours before the call, that interview was cancelled. Why? Because the “first round of interviews were set up.” Well then why, that same morning, did they reach out to me in the first place? In the words of the Critical Drinker, don’t know. Not a great feeling.
Anyway, now that I was a circle trying to fill a square shaped hole, all of their openings seemed to consist of “entry level” HR and payroll positions at subsistence-level salary rates. While they dutifully responded to my email inquiries, they were definitely not reaching out proactively. After five or six weeks of this, it seemed clear that I had been rejected from consideration even before I had been *IN* consideration. Very disappointing.
Fortunately, I was able to secure a position on my own that met my requirements. Unfortunately, I felt like my interactions with Aston Carter amounted to a net zero. For that reason, it would be very difficult for me to provide a positive recommendation.
