I chose Academic Choice when finishing my university training as a way to continue to build my confidence after qualifying. I had already been offered a role for September prior to joining the agency, but wanted the opportunity to do what I loved and be paid for it, as well as experiencing all the year groups across the primary phases. As I trained as a later-years student, I had not had the chance to spend time in the EYFS. I discussed this with Claire and she was so open to giving me opportunities in all age-groups, despite my lack of experience with younger children.
From the minute I called Claire to discuss joining the agency, I was greeted with nothing but positivity, expertise and a sense that they really wanted to get to know every individual teacher in their agency. The onboarding process was speedy, and I was able to start work almost immediately.
Throughout my time as a supply teacher with Academic Choice, I have had the chance to teach all the way from Nursery classes to Year 6, which has broadened my perspectives, as prior to Academic Choice, I had boxed myself solely as a KS2 teacher.
The team listen closely to your preferences and availability, as well as offering you placements in schools outside of your comfort zone (eg, teaching a nursery class for me!), which build your confidence in your teaching abilities and allow you to build professional relationships across phases, schools and trusts.
I am beyond grateful for the time I have spent with Academic Choice. Their communication, welcoming nature and flexibility made them an absolute dream to work with and, whilst I am leaving to start my permanent position early, I will truly miss the excitement of visiting different schools and building my professional skills. I would highly recommend Academic Choice to anyone.
