Job Brief
The Meter Maid, also known as a Parking Enforcement Officer, is responsible for ensuring compliance with parking regulations within designated areas, such as public parking lots and city streets. This role requires a keen eye for detail and strong observational skills to identify overtime parking violators and illegally parked vehicles. Successful candidates will possess excellent communication abilities, a proactive approach to conflict resolution, and a commitment to maintaining public order and safety.
Responsibilities
- Patrol assigned areas to monitor parking compliance and enforce local parking regulations.
- Issue citations to vehicles that violate parking rules, including overtime parking and illegal parking.
- Document and report any incidents or issues related to parking enforcement.
- Engage with the public to provide information on parking regulations and answer questions.
- Collaborate with local law enforcement and city officials to address ongoing parking violations.
- Maintain accurate records of citations issued and report findings to the appropriate authorities.
- Utilize parking enforcement technology and software for efficient citation management.
- Participate in training sessions to stay updated on changes in parking laws and enforcement procedures.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant experience in law enforcement or public service is preferred.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle conflicts and de-escalate tense situations effectively.
- Familiarity with parking enforcement technology and citation software.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Physical ability to walk and stand for extended periods in various weather conditions.
- Knowledge of local parking regulations and ordinances is a plus.
