Job Brief
The Load Haul Dump (LHD) Operator is responsible for operating underground loading and moving machines to efficiently transport core, ore, or rock in mining environments. Responsibilities
- Operate underground loading and moving machinery to load and transport ore, core, or rock materials.
- Ensure the safe and efficient use of power shovels, hoisting engines, and conveyor systems.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on equipment to maintain optimal functionality.
- Adhere to safety regulations and best practices to promote a secure working environment.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding operational status and safety concerns.
- Utilize mining software and technology to track materials and optimize loading processes.
- Assist in training new operators and team members in safe operating procedures.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications in heavy machinery operation preferred.
- Proven experience as a Load Haul Dump Operator or similar role in underground mining.
- Strong knowledge of mining equipment operations, maintenance, and safety standards.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and adhere to strict safety protocols.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to perform under pressure.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Physical stamina and ability to operate heavy machinery for extended periods.
