Job Brief
The Wood Floor Layer is responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of hardwood flooring and other wooden structures. This role requires a keen eye for detail, expertise in various laying techniques, and the ability to work with a range of materials. The ideal candidate will possess strong skills in measuring, cutting, and fitting wood flooring, as well as experience in ensuring high-quality finishes. A background in carpentry or a related field is preferred, along with a commitment to delivering exceptional craftsmanship on every project.
Responsibilities
- Measure and cut wood flooring materials to precise specifications.
- Prepare subfloors by leveling, cleaning, and ensuring proper moisture content.
- Install hardwood floors using various techniques, including nail-down, glue-down, and floating methods.
- Repair and replace damaged wood flooring as needed to maintain high standards.
- Install additional wooden structures such as staircases, door frames, and cabinetry.
- Collaborate with clients and construction teams to understand project requirements and timelines.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all safety regulations.
- Utilize tools and equipment correctly and ensure they are well-maintained.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Wood Floor Layer or in a similar carpentry role.
- Strong knowledge of wood types, flooring materials, and installation techniques.
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
- Familiarity with hand and power tools used in woodworking and floor installation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy materials as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent; formal training or certification in carpentry is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
