Job Brief
As a Wildlife Officer, you will play a crucial role in the conservation and management of wildlife populations while ensuring compliance with fish and game laws. This position involves patrolling assigned areas, conducting investigations on wildlife-related property damage, and compiling essential biological data. The ideal candidate will possess strong observational skills, a passion for wildlife conservation, and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Patrol designated regions to monitor wildlife activities and prevent violations of fish and game laws.
- Investigate reports of wildlife-related damage to crops or property and provide appropriate solutions.
- Compile and analyze biological data to support wildlife management and conservation efforts.
- Educate the public on wildlife conservation issues, regulations, and responsible land-use practices.
- Collaborate with local communities, agencies, and organizations to promote wildlife protection initiatives.
- Prepare detailed reports and documentation related to investigations and wildlife population statistics.
- Respond to emergency situations involving wildlife, ensuring public safety and animal welfare.
- Conduct field surveys and assessments to monitor wildlife health and habitat conditions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience in wildlife management, law enforcement, or a similar role.
- Strong understanding of fish and game laws, regulations, and wildlife conservation practices.
- Excellent observational and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage with the public and stakeholders.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate off-road vehicles for patrols.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is preferred.
