Job Brief
As a Wheelwright, you will play a crucial role in the fabrication, installation, maintenance, and repair of wooden wheels and wheel components for various types of vehicles, including carriages and wagons. Responsibilities
- Fabricate and repair wooden wheels, ensuring structural integrity and optimal performance.
- Install wheel components, including spokes, hubs, and rims, utilizing industry-standard techniques.
- Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on existing wheels to identify wear and damage.
- Collaborate with other craftsmen to enhance overall vehicle functionality and aesthetics.
- Maintain accurate records of materials used, labor hours, and project specifications.
- Adhere to safety protocols and best practices in the workshop to ensure a safe working environment.
- Stay updated on industry trends and new wheelwrighting techniques to enhance skillset.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Wheelwright or in a similar role within the woodworking or metalworking industry.
- Strong knowledge of wheel construction and repair techniques, including traditional methods.
- Proficiency in using hand tools and machinery relevant to wheel fabrication.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with a team.
- Relevant certifications in carpentry, woodworking, or mechanical repair are a plus.
