Job Brief
The Veterinary Attendant plays a crucial role in animal care within veterinary hospitals, clinics, and laboratories. Responsibilities
- Feed, water, and monitor the health of pets and nonfarm animals, observing for signs of illness, disease, or injury.
- Clean and disinfect cages, work areas, and equipment to maintain a sterile environment.
- Sterilize laboratory and surgical instruments according to standard safety protocols.
- Assist veterinarians and technicians in providing routine postoperative care and administering medications.
- Prepare biological samples for laboratory examination under supervision.
- Document animal care activities and maintain accurate records in compliance with veterinary standards.
- Support the veterinary team in daily operational tasks to enhance overall clinic efficiency.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in veterinary technology or animal care preferred.
- Experience working with animals in a veterinary or animal care setting is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of animal behavior and handling techniques.
- Ability to recognize signs of distress or illness in animals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with pet owners and team members.
- Basic knowledge of administering medications and performing routine health checks.
- Certifications in animal care or veterinary assistance are a plus.
