Job Brief
We are seeking a skilled Underwater Welder to perform various welding tasks below the surface of water, utilizing surface-supplied air or scuba equipment. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in inspecting, repairing, removing, or installing underwater structures and equipment. Proficiency in using various power and hand tools, including drills, torches, and welding equipment, is essential. The Underwater Welder will also be responsible for conducting tests, rigging explosives, and photographing marine life and structures as needed.
Responsibilities
- Perform underwater welding and cutting tasks in various environments, ensuring structural integrity and safety.
- Inspect, repair, and maintain underwater structures and equipment using industry-standard techniques.
- Utilize surface-supplied air or scuba equipment to execute tasks beneath the water surface.
- Operate a variety of power and hand tools effectively, including torches and drills.
- Conduct tests and experiments related to underwater projects and structures.
- Rig explosives safely for underwater demolition as required.
- Document work through photography of marine structures and environments.
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in welding preferred.
- Certification as a Commercial Diver or equivalent underwater welding certification.
- Proven experience as an Underwater Welder with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
- In-depth knowledge of welding techniques and standards, including MIG, TIG, and stick welding.
- Ability to operate underwater welding and cutting equipment proficiently.
- Strong physical fitness and ability to work in challenging underwater conditions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Valid diver’s license and knowledge of safety regulations pertaining to underwater welding.
