Job Brief
The Tug Boat Captain is responsible for commanding and supervising the operations of tugboats and other water vessels, ensuring safe navigation and maneuvering in various waterways. Responsibilities
- Command and oversee the safe operation of tugboats during towing and docking operations.
- Ensure compliance with maritime laws, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
- Supervise and train crew members on navigational duties and safety protocols.
- Conduct pre-departure inspections and assess the operational readiness of the vessel.
- Develop and implement effective towing plans based on vessel specifications and environmental conditions.
- Communicate effectively with port authorities, pilots, and other vessels to ensure safe navigation.
- Maintain accurate logs of operations, vessel conditions, and crew activities.
- Respond to emergencies and implement safety measures to mitigate risks at sea.
Requirements
- Valid U.S. Coast Guard license for operating tugboats or equivalent vessels.
- Proven experience as a Tug Boat Captain or in similar marine roles.
- Strong knowledge of maritime navigation, safety procedures, and emergency protocols.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills for effective crew management.
- Ability to work in diverse weather conditions and maintain focus under pressure.
- Familiarity with maritime communication equipment and navigation systems.
