Job Brief
The Transportation Technician plays a vital role in enhancing traffic management and safety by conducting field studies to assess traffic volume, speed, signal effectiveness, and lighting adequacy. Responsibilities
- Conduct field studies to gather data on traffic conditions, including volume, speed, and signal performance.
- Analyze traffic data to identify trends and recommend improvements for traffic flow and safety.
- Assist in the development and evaluation of traffic signal timing plans and other operational strategies.
- Perform inspections and assessments of roadway lighting and signage effectiveness.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations based on field study findings for stakeholders.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to support traffic management projects and initiatives.
- Utilize software and tools for data analysis, including GIS and traffic simulation programs.
- Stay updated on the latest transportation and traffic management technologies and best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in traffic data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Strong understanding of traffic engineering principles and methodologies.
- Proficient in using traffic analysis software and tools, such as Synchro, VISSIM, or similar.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to field sites as required.
