Job Brief

As a Train Control Electronic Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of railroad operations. Your primary responsibilities include installing, inspecting, testing, maintaining, and repairing electric gate crossings, signals, signal equipment, track switches, section lines, and intercommunication systems. This position requires a solid understanding of electronic systems, troubleshooting skills, and hands-on experience in a railroad environment. Candidates should possess relevant technical certifications and have a proven track record in electronics maintenance and repair.

Responsibilities

  • Install and configure electric gate crossings and signal systems to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Conduct thorough inspections and tests on signaling equipment and track switches to identify and resolve issues.
  • Perform regular maintenance and troubleshooting on intercommunication systems within the railroad network.
  • Document all repairs and maintenance activities in accordance with industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other technicians to develop and implement effective solutions for signal and control systems.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and software to analyze and rectify electronic system failures.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and compliance guidelines during all maintenance and repair activities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or technical certification in electronics preferred.
  • Proven experience as an electronic technician, preferably in a railroad or transportation setting.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, signaling technologies, and intercommunication equipment.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic equipment and troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to various job sites as needed.
