Job Brief
We are seeking a skilled Tow Truck Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating a tow truck or tractor-trailer combination, with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of at least 26,001 pounds. The Tow Truck Operator will assist in transporting vehicles, providing roadside assistance, and ensuring safe and efficient tow operations. Candidates should possess a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) and demonstrate strong mechanical knowledge, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to handle challenging situations.
Responsibilities
- Operate a tow truck or tractor-trailer combination to transport vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Respond promptly to roadside assistance calls and emergency situations.
- Perform vehicle inspections to ensure safety compliance and operational readiness.
- Unhook and load vehicles onto tow trucks using appropriate equipment and techniques.
- Maintain accurate records of towing activities, including mileage and service provided.
- Provide exceptional customer service when interacting with clients and vehicle owners.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and safety regulations while operating the vehicle.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on towing equipment as needed.
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Tow Truck Operator or in a similar role.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of vehicle mechanics.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to handle stressful situations and remain calm under pressure.
- Familiarity with towing equipment and safety procedures.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in towing and recovery preferred.
