Job Brief
As a Tissue Technologist, you will play a pivotal role in performing complex medical laboratory tests crucial for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. This position requires a keen eye for detail and advanced technical expertise in histology, immunohistochemistry, and pathology. The ideal candidate will possess experience in a laboratory setting and be skilled in using various laboratory equipment and techniques. You may also take on supervisory responsibilities, training and guiding junior staff to ensure accurate laboratory practices.
Responsibilities
- Perform histological preparations of tissue samples, including sectioning, staining, and mounting for analysis.
- Conduct immunohistochemical tests to assist in diagnosing diseases.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and troubleshoot any technical issues that arise.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and quality assurance standards.
- Document and report test results accurately and in a timely manner.
- Train and supervise laboratory staff, providing guidance on best practices and techniques.
- Participate in ongoing education to stay current with advancements in tissue technology and laboratory procedures.
- Collaborate with pathologists and other medical professionals to interpret results and support patient care.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Histotechnology, or a related field.
- Certification as a Histotechnologist (HTL) or equivalent from an accredited body.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical laboratory environment.
- Proficiency in histological techniques and immunohistochemistry.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration within a multidisciplinary team.
