Job Brief

As a Sushi Chef, you will play a vital role in preparing high-quality sushi and Japanese cuisine while ensuring adherence to food safety standards. Responsibilities

  • Prepare and present a variety of sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes with precision and creativity.
  • Ensure the quality of ingredients by sourcing fresh fish, vegetables, and other components.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi preparation area and kitchen.
  • Plan and price menu items, keeping in mind seasonal availability and cost control.
  • Direct kitchen staff in the preparation and cooking of food items, ensuring consistency and quality.
  • Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff in sushi preparation techniques and kitchen operations.
  • Adhere to food safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar culinary role, with a strong portfolio of sushi creations.
  • In-depth knowledge of Japanese cuisine, sushi preparation techniques, and food safety practices.
  • Exceptional knife skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Culinary degree or relevant certification in sushi artistry preferred.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to lead and inspire a kitchen team.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Proficient in inventory management and menu planning.
