Job Brief
As a Sushi Chef, you will play a vital role in preparing high-quality sushi and Japanese cuisine while ensuring adherence to food safety standards. Responsibilities
- Prepare and present a variety of sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes with precision and creativity.
- Ensure the quality of ingredients by sourcing fresh fish, vegetables, and other components.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi preparation area and kitchen.
- Plan and price menu items, keeping in mind seasonal availability and cost control.
- Direct kitchen staff in the preparation and cooking of food items, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed to maintain operational efficiency.
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff in sushi preparation techniques and kitchen operations.
- Adhere to food safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar culinary role, with a strong portfolio of sushi creations.
- In-depth knowledge of Japanese cuisine, sushi preparation techniques, and food safety practices.
- Exceptional knife skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Culinary degree or relevant certification in sushi artistry preferred.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to lead and inspire a kitchen team.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Proficient in inventory management and menu planning.
