Job Brief
The Substation Operator is responsible for coordinating, regulating, and distributing electricity or steam in a safe and efficient manner. Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain equipment within substations to ensure reliable electricity or steam distribution.
- Monitor and control electrical systems to maintain optimal performance and safety standards.
- Conduct regular inspections and tests on substation equipment and systems.
- Analyze data and troubleshoot issues related to electrical distribution and equipment functionality.
- Implement maintenance schedules and respond to emergency situations as needed.
- Coordinate with engineering teams to support system upgrades and improvements.
- Document maintenance activities and operational changes in compliance with safety regulations.
- Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations regarding electrical distribution operations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical education or certifications in electrical systems preferred.
- Proven experience as a Substation Operator or in a similar role within the energy sector.
- Strong knowledge of electrical theory, power distribution systems, and substation operations.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and regulatory compliance standards.
- Ability to operate control systems and monitor equipment using specialized software tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Willingness to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
