Job Brief
We are seeking a skilled Substation Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting, testing, repairing, and maintaining electrical equipment in generating stations, substations, and in-service relays. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in electrical systems, a strong understanding of safety protocols, and the ability to troubleshoot complex electrical issues effectively.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, test, and maintain electrical equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety standards.
- Diagnose electrical malfunctions and implement necessary repairs on substations and generating stations.
- Perform routine maintenance on transformers, circuit breakers, and switchgear.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve electrical system failures.
- Document maintenance activities and report findings to management.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company safety standards.
- Utilize specialized tools and equipment for testing and repair of electrical systems.
- Participate in on-call rotations and respond to emergency repair needs as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in electrical technology preferred.
- Proven experience as a Substation Mechanic or in a similar electrical maintenance role.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, circuitry, and safety protocols.
- Familiarity with testing equipment and diagnostic tools.
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and schematics.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Valid electrician’s license or relevant certification preferred.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
