Job Brief
As a Structural Steel Erector, you will be responsible for raising, placing, and uniting iron or steel girders, columns, and other structural members to form completed structures or frameworks. This role requires hands-on experience in metal fabrication and erection, ensuring safety and precision in assembling structural components. The ideal candidate should possess strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively on construction sites.
Responsibilities
- Raise and position steel girders, columns, and other structural members according to blueprints and specifications.
- Ensure the structural integrity of frameworks by uniting components using bolts, welds, or other fastening methods.
- Install metal storage tanks and assemble prefabricated metal buildings as required.
- Operate cranes and other heavy machinery to lift and position structural elements safely.
- Collaborate with construction teams to align and secure structures during the erection process.
- Conduct regular inspections of materials and equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized worksite, adhering to all occupational health and safety regulations.
- Document project progress and report any issues to supervisors for timely resolutions.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certifications in steel erection or construction preferred.
- Proven experience as a Structural Steel Erector or in a similar role within the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of structural steel design, engineering principles, and construction methods.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and practices related to steel erection and construction work.
- Proficient in operating cranes, hoists, and other equipment used in structural steel erection.
- Excellent physical stamina and strength, with the ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions.
- Strong teamwork skills and effective communication abilities to collaborate with other trades and project managers.
