Job Brief
As a Storm Chaser, you will investigate atmospheric phenomena and interpret meteorological data to prepare accurate weather forecasts and reports for public use. Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze weather patterns and atmospheric conditions using advanced radar, satellite, and surface data.
- Conduct field investigations during severe weather events, capturing real-time data and providing situational updates.
- Prepare comprehensive weather forecasts and reports for media outlets, emergency services, and the general public.
- Utilize meteorological models and software to predict storm development and behavior.
- Collaborate with meteorologists and researchers to enhance understanding of severe weather phenomena.
- Maintain and calibrate meteorological instruments and equipment for accurate data collection.
- Educate the public on storm safety and preparedness through outreach programs and presentations.
- Document findings and share insights with the meteorological community for ongoing research and development.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience in weather forecasting and data analysis.
- Strong proficiency with meteorological software and data visualization tools.
- Ability to operate specialized meteorological equipment and technology.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills for sharing findings with diverse audiences.
- Willingness to work in extreme weather conditions and travel as needed.
- Certification from a recognized meteorological organization is preferred.
