Job Brief
The Steel Fitter is responsible for raising, placing, and uniting iron or steel girders, columns, and other structural members to build robust frameworks for various construction projects. Responsibilities
- Interpret blueprints and technical drawings to determine specifications and assembly sequences.
- Raise, position, and secure steel structures using cranes, hoists, and other lifting equipment.
- Assemble prefabricated metal buildings and erect metal storage tanks according to project plans.
- Ensure structural integrity by conducting inspections and testing for alignment and stability.
- Collaborate with engineers and project managers to meet project deadlines and quality standards.
- Adhere to safety regulations and industry standards to maintain a safe working environment.
- Utilize tools and equipment effectively, performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting as needed.
- Document work progress and report any discrepancies or issues to supervisors promptly.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Steel Fitter or in a similar role within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of welding techniques, metal fabrication, and structural assembly.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints accurately.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and regulations related to construction sites.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Physical stamina and strength to handle heavy materials and work in various weather conditions.
- Certification in relevant safety training or metalworking is preferred.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
