Job Brief
The Speech and Hearing Therapy Director is responsible for overseeing the planning, direction, and coordination of speech and hearing therapy services within healthcare facilities such as hospitals, clinics, and public health organizations. This leadership role requires a deep understanding of therapeutic techniques, regulatory compliance, and effective team management. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive speech and hearing therapy programs to meet patient needs.
- Supervise and mentor speech-language pathologists and other therapy staff.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide continuous training to enhance staff skills.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices in speech and hearing therapy.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to foster interdisciplinary care for patients.
- Manage budgets, resources, and operational functions of the speech and hearing therapy department.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of therapy programs and implement improvements as necessary.
- Engage in community outreach to promote awareness of speech and hearing health services.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or related field.
- Valid state licensure as a speech-language pathologist.
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in speech and hearing therapy.
- Proven leadership and management skills in a healthcare setting.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and data management.
- Certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) is preferred.
