Job Brief
As a Special Education Paraprofessional, you will play a vital role in assisting teachers to support students with learning, emotional, or physical disabilities in preschool, elementary, middle, or secondary educational settings. Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
- Support students in classroom activities, including lessons, discussions, and assignments.
- Provide one-on-one or small group instruction tailored to meet diverse learning needs.
- Encourage positive social interactions and foster emotional well-being among students.
- Monitor and document student progress, behavior, and participation.
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff to create adaptive learning materials and strategies.
- Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Assist with personal care needs as required, ensuring student dignity and respect.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree or higher in education or related field preferred.
- Experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting.
- Strong understanding of special education practices and relevant laws.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and families.
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques and strategies.
- Certification as a paraprofessional may be required based on state regulations.
- First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
