Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive ultrasound examinations to assess patient health and diagnose medical conditions.
- Produce high-quality ultrasonic recordings of internal organs, including the heart, liver, kidneys, and vascular system.
- Ensure proper patient positioning and comfort during procedures to obtain optimal imaging results.
- Analyze and interpret ultrasound images, providing preliminary findings to the physician.
- Maintain and operate ultrasound equipment, ensuring it is calibrated and functioning correctly.
- Document patient information and examination results accurately in medical records.
- Educate patients about the ultrasound process and address any concerns regarding the procedure.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop patient care plans and coordinate further testing as needed.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree or higher in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or a related field.
- Active certification from a recognized professional body, such as the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
- Proven experience in performing ultrasound examinations, preferably in a clinical or hospital setting.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to sonography.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills for effective patient interaction.
- Familiarity with ultrasound technology and imaging software.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills for accurate record-keeping.
