Job Brief

As a Sonar Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of sonar equipment used in various marine applications. This role requires a strong understanding of sonar technology, electronics, and data analysis to support underwater exploration and monitoring. The ideal candidate will possess technical expertise in sonar systems, strong problem-solving skills, and a keen attention to detail. Experience in marine operations or related fields is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Install and configure sonar systems and associated equipment for marine applications.
  • Conduct regular maintenance and troubleshooting of sonar devices to ensure optimal performance.
  • Analyze sonar data and produce accurate reports on underwater conditions and findings.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other technicians to enhance sonar system capabilities.
  • Train team members on sonar operation, maintenance, and safety protocols.
  • Stay updated on advancements in sonar technology and industry best practices.
  • Assist in the development of technical documentation and user manuals.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Marine Technology, Electronics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Sonar Technician or in a similar technical role.
  • Strong knowledge of sonar principles, systems, and data interpretation.
  • Familiarity with electronic troubleshooting and repair techniques.
  • Proficient in using software tools for data analysis and reporting.
  • Certifications in sonar technology or marine systems are a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a marine environment.
