Job Brief
The Ski Lift Mechanic is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of ski lift systems, ensuring safe and efficient operations at ski resorts and recreational areas. This role requires a skilled technician with a strong background in mechanical maintenance, electrical systems, and safety protocols. Ideal candidates should possess relevant certifications and experience in troubleshooting and repairing complex machinery, as well as the ability to work in various weather conditions.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on ski lift systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues in ski lifts and implement effective repair solutions.
- Install new ski lift components, including motors, gearboxes, and safety systems, following industry standards.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections for compliance and reporting purposes.
- Collaborate with other maintenance staff and operators to troubleshoot and resolve system outages.
- Ensure adherence to safety regulations and best practices during all maintenance and repair activities.
- Assist in the training of junior mechanics and operators on safety protocols and lift operations.
- Respond promptly to emergency repair requests, ensuring minimal downtime for ski lift operations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in mechanical or electrical systems is preferred.
- Proven experience as a ski lift mechanic or in a similar role within the maintenance field.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Familiarity with relevant safety and operational regulations in the ski industry.
- Ability to work at heights and in adverse weather conditions, demonstrating physical stamina and agility.
- Effective problem-solving skills and attention to detail when diagnosing and repairing equipment.
- Valid driver’s license; additional certifications in heavy machinery operation are a plus.
