Job Brief
The Shipping and Receiving Material Handler is responsible for the manual movement of freight, stock, and other materials within a warehouse or distribution center. This role requires a high level of physical stamina and attention to detail to ensure accurate processing of incoming and outgoing shipments. Responsibilities
- Manually move freight, stock, and materials to designated areas within the facility.
- Prepare and package items for shipment, ensuring compliance with shipping regulations.
- Load and unload goods from trucks and containers efficiently and safely.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and assist in stocktaking processes.
- Inspect received materials for quality and report discrepancies or damages.
- Collaborate with team members to optimize workflow and improve operational efficiency.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean working environment at all times.
- Assist in general labor tasks as needed to support warehouse operations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in shipping and receiving or warehouse operations.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to lift heavy items (up to 50 lbs) regularly.
- Basic understanding of inventory management systems and procedures.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends if required.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with safety standards and protocols in a warehouse setting.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
