Job Brief
The Ship Purser plays a vital role in managing the administrative and financial operations onboard a vessel. This position is responsible for overseeing the ship’s financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with maritime regulations. The ideal candidate should possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and experience in maritime operations or hospitality management.
Responsibilities
- Manage all onboard financial operations, including cash handling and accounting for crew and passenger accounts.
- Coordinate and oversee ship provisions, inventory management, and supply orders.
- Ensure compliance with maritime regulations and company policies related to administrative procedures.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports and budgets for operational review.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing passenger inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
- Collaborate with department heads to streamline operational processes and enhance onboard experience.
- Maintain accurate records of crew documentation and payroll processing.
- Train and supervise junior staff members in administrative and financial duties.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Purser, Administrative Officer, or similar role in a maritime or hospitality environment.
- Strong knowledge of financial management practices and accounting software.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for effective passenger and crew relations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant administrative tools.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a multicultural setting.
- Certifications in maritime operations or hospitality management are a plus.
