Job Brief
As a Sexual Assault Social Worker, you will provide vital support and advocacy for survivors of sexual violence. You will work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to deliver trauma-informed care, assess client needs, and develop personalized support plans. This role requires strong communication skills, empathy, and a deep understanding of the complexities surrounding sexual violence. Ideal candidates will possess experience in crisis intervention, resource navigation, and case management within social services or mental health fields.
Responsibilities
- Provide crisis intervention and emotional support to survivors of sexual assault.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify client needs and develop tailored service plans.
- Facilitate access to resources, including legal, medical, and psychological services.
- Collaborate with law enforcement, healthcare providers, and community organizations to ensure holistic support.
- Advocate for clients’ rights and needs throughout the recovery process.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records and documentation.
- Conduct outreach and education programs to raise awareness about sexual violence and available resources.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training in trauma-informed practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work (BSW) or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Valid state licensure as a social worker (LCSW or equivalent).
- Experience working with survivors of trauma, particularly sexual assault victims.
- Strong understanding of mental health issues and trauma-informed care principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with diverse populations.
- Proficiency in case management and resource navigation.
- Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations regarding sexual assault and victim advocacy.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and case management software.
