Job Brief
As a Sexual Assault Counselor, you will provide compassionate support and guidance to survivors of sexual assault. Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions to survivors of sexual assault, utilizing trauma-informed techniques.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to understand the unique needs of each client and develop personalized treatment plans.
- Offer crisis intervention support and emotional assistance during immediate distress situations.
- Facilitate resources and referrals to legal, medical, and community services as needed.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records, adhering to ethical and legal standards.
- Educate clients about the effects of trauma and coping strategies to foster resilience and recovery.
- Advocate for client rights and provide information regarding legal options and processes.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training in sexual assault response and mental health counseling.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
- Valid state licensure or certification as a counselor or therapist.
- Demonstrated experience in crisis intervention, trauma counseling, or similar roles.
- Strong understanding of sexual assault dynamics and the impact of trauma on individuals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients.
- Proficient in maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical guidelines.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends, as needed.
- Familiarity with community resources and support services for survivors of sexual assault.
