Job Brief
The Self Loading Flatbed Truck Driver is responsible for operating a tractor-trailer combination or a truck with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of at least 26,001 pounds. This role involves transporting goods safely and efficiently while adhering to all safety regulations and maintaining compliance with transportation laws. Ideal candidates will possess a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) and demonstrate strong driving skills, ensuring timely delivery and effective communication with dispatch and clients.
Responsibilities
- Operate a self-loading flatbed truck to transport cargo to designated locations.
- Ensure accurate loading and unloading of materials, following safety protocols.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to maintain compliance and safety standards.
- Complete and submit all necessary documentation, including delivery receipts and inspection reports.
- Adhere to federal, state, and local transportation regulations throughout the driving route.
- Maintain communication with dispatch regarding delivery status and any potential delays.
- Handle minor maintenance and troubleshooting of the vehicle as needed.
- Provide exceptional customer service while interacting with clients and stakeholders.
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience as a truck driver, preferably with flatbed transportation.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in the trucking industry.
- Ability to operate and maneuver heavy machinery and vehicles.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Capable of lifting heavy loads and performing physical tasks as required.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with dispatch and clients.
- Familiarity with GPS and other navigation tools.
