Job Brief
We are seeking a skilled Seating Upholsterer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for making, repairing, and replacing upholstery for both household furniture and transportation vehicles. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in upholstery techniques, attention to detail, and the ability to work with various fabrics and materials. Experience in custom upholstery work is preferred, alongside excellent problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
- Measure and cut materials according to specifications for seating projects.
- Assemble upholstery components and ensure proper fitting for furniture and vehicles.
- Repair damaged upholstery using appropriate techniques and tools.
- Replace worn-out materials with high-quality fabrics to enhance durability and aesthetics.
- Communicate with clients to understand their design preferences and requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety standards.
- Collaborate with other team members to complete projects efficiently and on time.
- Stay updated on industry trends and new upholstery materials and techniques.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Seating Upholsterer or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of upholstery techniques and materials, including foam, fabric, and leather.
- Proficiency in using upholstery tools and equipment, such as sewing machines and staple guns.
- Attention to detail and strong craftsmanship skills.
- Ability to interpret design drawings and specifications accurately.
- Excellent communication skills and customer service orientation.
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications are a plus.
- Physical stamina to perform manual tasks and lift heavy materials as needed.
