Job Brief

The Screw Machine Tool Setter is responsible for setting up, operating, and tending lathe and turning machines to process metal or plastic materials, including wire, rod, or bar stock. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong technical skills, and the ability to interpret specifications and blueprints. Ideal candidates will have previous experience in a manufacturing environment, demonstrating proficiency with screw machines and related tools.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and adjust screw machines to meet production specifications and tolerances.
  • Operate lathe and turning machines to turn, bore, thread, and face various materials.
  • Monitor machine operations to ensure proper functioning and quality output.
  • Inspect finished products for adherence to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
  • Maintain accurate production records and document machine settings and adjustments.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machines and troubleshoot operational issues as needed.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality assurance teams to enhance production processes.
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in machining preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Screw Machine Tool Setter or similar role in a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong understanding of machining processes and tools, including screw machines.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Proficiency in using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail and quality control.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with CNC programming is a plus.
