Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook a variety of meals, including breakfast, lunch, and snacks, ensuring quality and flavor.
  • Plan menus in accordance with nutritional guidelines and dietary restrictions.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and dining areas, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Manage inventory of food supplies, including ordering and receiving deliveries.
  • Collaborate with school staff to accommodate special dietary needs and preferences.
  • Monitor and maintain food storage temperatures to ensure food safety.
  • Train and supervise kitchen staff and volunteers in food preparation and safety practices.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to stay updated on food trends and best practices.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a cook, preferably in a school, hospital, or large-scale food service environment.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
  • Ability to prepare meals in large quantities while maintaining quality and presentation.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Certification in food handling and safety (e.g., ServSafe) is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students and staff.
  • Ability to adapt recipes for special dietary needs, including allergies and dietary restrictions.
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods and perform manual tasks in a kitchen environment.
