Job Brief
As a Salvage Diver, you will work below the water’s surface utilizing surface-supplied air or scuba equipment to conduct inspections, repairs, and installations of various underwater structures and equipment. This role requires a combination of technical diving expertise and proficiency in using a range of power and hand tools. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in underwater salvage operations, with the ability to conduct tests, rig explosives, and photograph marine life or structures as necessary.
Responsibilities
- Perform underwater inspections to assess the condition of structures and equipment.
- Utilize surface-supplied air or scuba equipment for safe underwater operations.
- Employ various tools, including drills, sledgehammers, torches, and welding equipment, for repair and installation tasks.
- Conduct tests and experiments to evaluate underwater environments and materials.
- Rig explosives for controlled demolition of underwater structures when required.
- Document and photograph structures, marine life, and salvage operations.
- Collaborate with team members to plan and execute salvage missions effectively.
- Maintain equipment and tools to ensure optimal performance and safety standards.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in commercial diving is preferred.
- Valid diving certification (e.g., PADI, NAUI) with experience in salvage diving.
- Proficient in the use of scuba and surface-supplied diving equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with underwater tools and welding techniques.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and environmental regulations related to underwater operations.
- Ability to work in challenging underwater conditions and maintain composure under pressure.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with crew members.
