Job Brief
We are seeking an experienced Sailboat Captain to oversee the safe navigation and operation of our sailing vessels. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in maritime operations, demonstrated leadership skills, and a valid U.S. Coast Guard license. The Sailboat Captain will be responsible for managing crew activities, ensuring passenger safety, and maintaining compliance with maritime regulations while delivering exceptional sailing experiences.
Responsibilities
- Command and navigate sailboats, ensuring safe and efficient operations on water.
- Supervise crew members, assigning tasks and providing training as needed.
- Conduct pre-departure inspections of equipment and safety gear.
- Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal maritime laws and regulations.
- Manage passenger safety protocols, including emergency procedures and drills.
- Maintain vessel upkeep, including routine maintenance and repairs.
- Plan sailing routes and monitor weather conditions to ensure safe navigation.
- Communicate effectively with crew and passengers to enhance the sailing experience.
Requirements
- Valid U.S. Coast Guard license for operating sailboats.
- Proven experience as a Sailboat Captain or in a similar maritime role.
- Strong knowledge of navigation, seamanship, and maritime regulations.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to assess and manage risks related to weather and sea conditions.
- First aid and CPR certification preferred.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with crew and passengers.
