Job Brief
The Rustic Terrazzo Setter is responsible for creating durable and aesthetically pleasing surfaces using a mixture of cement, sand, pigment, and marble chips. This role requires a skilled artisan who can apply terrazzo in various settings, including floors, stairways, and cabinet fixtures. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for detail, strong knowledge of terrazzo techniques, and experience in surface preparation and finishing.
Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, leveling, and applying a bonding agent to ensure optimal adhesion of terrazzo materials.
- Mix and pour terrazzo materials, including cement, sand, pigments, and marble chips, to achieve desired aesthetic and functional properties.
- Use hand tools and machinery to spread and finish terrazzo surfaces, ensuring a smooth and uniform application.
- Install terrazzo on floors, stairways, and cabinetry, following design specifications and established techniques.
- Perform regular inspections of completed work to ensure quality standards and address any defects or imperfections.
- Collaborate with project managers and other tradespeople to coordinate project timelines and tasks.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety protocols and regulations.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in terrazzo setting techniques and materials.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in terrazzo setting or related field is a plus.
- Proven experience as a terrazzo setter or in a similar role within the flooring industry.
- Strong knowledge of terrazzo materials, mixing ratios, and application techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality workmanship.
- Physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor and lift heavy materials.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in construction and flooring installation.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
