Job Brief
As a Rock Mason, you will be responsible for constructing and repairing stone structures, including piers, walls, and abutments. This role requires expertise in laying various types of masonry, including walks, curbstones, and specialized masonry for vats, tanks, and floors. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail, physical stamina, and a commitment to safety while demonstrating proficiency in stone cutting, shaping, and installation.
Responsibilities
- Construct stone structures such as retaining walls, piers, and abutments using appropriate materials and techniques.
- Lay walks and curbstones with precision, ensuring durability and aesthetic appeal.
- Install specialized masonry for vats, tanks, and floors, adhering to industry standards.
- Cut and shape stone using hand tools and power equipment to meet project specifications.
- Mix mortar and other adhesives to ensure strong and lasting bonds between stones.
- Inspect and repair existing stone structures to maintain integrity and safety.
- Collaborate with architects and engineers to understand project requirements and specifications.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment while following safety protocols.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Rock Mason or similar masonry role.
- Strong understanding of masonry techniques and materials.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Proficiency in using masonry tools and equipment, including chisels, saws, and mixers.
- Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy materials and work in various weather conditions.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to different job sites as required.
- Certification in masonry or related fields is a plus.
