Job Brief
The Rock Drill Operator is responsible for operating various drilling equipment such as rotary, churn, and pneumatic drills to access subsurface water, salt deposits, and conduct core sampling during mineral exploration and soil testing. Responsibilities
- Operate rotary, churn, and pneumatic drills for mineral exploration and soil testing.
- Conduct core sampling and obtain geological information for analysis.
- Utilize horizontal and earth boring machines to access subsurface resources.
- Prepare sites for drilling operations, ensuring proper equipment setup and safety measures.
- Monitor drilling progress and adjust equipment settings as needed to optimize performance.
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on drilling equipment to ensure operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with geologists and engineers to interpret data and guide drilling operations.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical training or certification preferred.
- Proven experience as a Rock Drill Operator or in a similar role within the mining or construction industry.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot drilling equipment.
- Familiarity with safety standards and regulations in drilling operations.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and blueprints.
- Excellent physical stamina and manual dexterity for operating heavy machinery.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate vehicles associated with drilling operations.
