Job Brief
As a River Expedition Guide, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and conducting thrilling long-distance travel experiences, tours, and expeditions on rivers for individuals and groups. You will leverage your expertise in navigation, safety protocols, and outdoor adventure skills to ensure a memorable and secure journey for all participants. The ideal candidate should possess strong leadership abilities, exceptional communication skills, and a passion for outdoor exploration.
Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate river expeditions, including route selection, logistics, and equipment management.
- Conduct pre-trip briefings to inform participants about safety procedures, equipment usage, and environmental conservation practices.
- Guide groups through various river activities, including rafting, kayaking, and camping, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience.
- Monitor river conditions and weather patterns to adjust itineraries and ensure participant safety.
- Provide first aid and emergency response as needed during expeditions.
- Educate participants about local wildlife, ecosystems, and historical landmarks encountered along the river.
- Maintain equipment and gear in excellent condition, performing regular inspections and repairs.
- Gather participant feedback to improve future expeditions and enhance customer satisfaction.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a river guide or in a similar outdoor leadership role.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid; Wilderness First Responder certification is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of river navigation, safety protocols, and environmental conservation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead diverse groups.
- Physical fitness and stamina to engage in strenuous outdoor activities.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; additional certifications (e.g., boating license) are beneficial.
