Job Brief

As a Rip Saw Operator, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and tending to wood sawing machines, specifically rip saws. This role requires a keen understanding of wood processing and machine operation, including the ability to operate computer numerically controlled (CNC) equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience in the wood manufacturing industry, showcasing strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and calibrate rip saw machines to meet production specifications.
  • Operate rip saws and CNC equipment to cut wood materials accurately and efficiently.
  • Monitor the sawing process to ensure high-quality output and adherence to safety standards.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on sawing machines to minimize downtime.
  • Inspect cut materials for quality and report any defects or issues to the supervisor.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, following all safety protocols.
  • Document production data and machine performance accurately for record-keeping.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in machine operation is a plus.
  • Proven experience as a Rip Saw Operator or in a related role within the wood processing industry.
  • Familiarity with CNC machinery and programming is advantageous.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain high safety standards.
  • Ability to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods.
  • Valid forklift or other relevant certifications may be required.
