Job Brief
As a Rip Saw Operator, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and tending to wood sawing machines, specifically rip saws. This role requires a keen understanding of wood processing and machine operation, including the ability to operate computer numerically controlled (CNC) equipment. Responsibilities
- Set up and calibrate rip saw machines to meet production specifications.
- Operate rip saws and CNC equipment to cut wood materials accurately and efficiently.
- Monitor the sawing process to ensure high-quality output and adherence to safety standards.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on sawing machines to minimize downtime.
- Inspect cut materials for quality and report any defects or issues to the supervisor.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, following all safety protocols.
- Document production data and machine performance accurately for record-keeping.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in machine operation is a plus.
- Proven experience as a Rip Saw Operator or in a related role within the wood processing industry.
- Familiarity with CNC machinery and programming is advantageous.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain high safety standards.
- Ability to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods.
- Valid forklift or other relevant certifications may be required.
